Britax Regent car seat from Tinyride.com

Transcript of the video citing the Britax Regent brought to you by Tinyride.com

By now, nearly every parent with an internet connection has heard of the sad video that recently came out on YouTube.com, urging all parents of toddlers to keep their kids in a true car seat with a 5-point harness as opposed to graduating them to booster seat attached with a seat belt.
Since the video came out, Britax USA has not been able to keep up with the huge demand. Tinyride is one of the ony retailers who has been getting a healty quantities of the Britax Regent car seat. You can order it from our Britax Regent product page.

The video was an emotional succession of photos with interspersed screens of text and music playing throughout. For those who missed it, here is the complete and unedited message contained in the Youtube video clip:

"I'd like you to meet my son Kyle.

Kyle was 3 years old when he was killed because an incompetent driver ran a red light and hit our mini-van at an intersection on May 29th 2005.

Kyle was in a booster seat, wearing his seatbelt when we were hit.

We thought he was protected…

Seatbelts are supposed to work… 100% of the time… right?

Well they don't. Seatbelts frequently fail by either unlatching or not tightening upon impact. Kyle's seatbelt was buckled but came unlatched upon impact.

His big sister was sitting right next to him in an identical booster, but her seatbelt worked and she walked away.

The only difference was that her seat belt worked and his didn't...

Seatbelts are wonderful things, when they work…

There is something that could have prevented Kyle's death though…

A 5-point harness car seat anchored and tethered to the car.

We thought he was too big for a typical 5-point harness car seat that only holds a child up to 40lbs. (he was over 40lbs.)

We wrongly assumed he had to move into a booster seat.

We have since found a car seat that can hold a child up to 80lbs in a 5-point harness, called the BRITAX REGENT

Our 6 year old daughter is now in one and has plenty of room to grow.

I would give anything to have this knowledge before our accident.

You on the other hand are lucky, you can learn from our loss...

Please consider this knowledge Kyle's gift to you and your children... use it... it may save your child's life one day.

Whether you use the lower anchors on the seatbelt to secure your child's 5-point harness carseat, ALWAYS use the TOP TETHER.

It offers a second line of defense against ejection should the seatbelt or lower anchors fail. Don't rely on just a seatbelt to secure your child.

Most young children tend to pull the shoulder belt over their head and behind their body when using a regular seatbelt - this leaves only the protection of a lap belt.

Watch what happens in a low-speed impact with only a lap belt on a 6 year old child... (shows video of a child dummy crashing its head on the front seat upon impact)

The only way to be sure your child is belted in correctly 100% of the time is to keep them in a 5-point harness.

The investments you make TODAY are the only thing that will be there to save your child when an accident happens.

Please don't let Kyle's death be in vain... use this knowledge, pass it on...

Keep kids safely buckled into a 5-point harness as long as possible.
